The combination of chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide is used to treat ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome. It helps relieve stomach spasms and abdominal cramps.
This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
The combination of chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide comes as a capsule to be taken by mouth. It usually is taken three or four times a day, before meals and at bedtime. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide exactly as directed.
Chlordiazepoxide can be habit-forming. Therefore, when taking chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide, do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or for a longer time than your doctor tells you to. Tolerance may develop with long-term or excessive use, making this medication less effective. This medication must be taken regularly to be effective. Do not skip doses even if you feel that you do not need them. Do not take chlordiazepoxide and clidinium bromide for more than 4 months or stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor. Stopping the drug suddenly can worsen your condition and cause withdrawal symptoms (anxiousness, sleeplessness, and irritability). Your doctor probably will decrease your dose gradually.

3. Do not stop taking this drug without consulting your doctor, especially if you have been taking it for a long time.
4. Stopping the drug abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms.
5. Your doctor may want to decrease your dose gradually. Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory.
Side Effects :
1. Eye sensitivity to light. Wear sunglasses when exposed to brigh light.
2. Dry mouth. Suck sugarless hard candies, drink fluids, or chew sugarless gum.
3. Drowsiness, dizziness, faintness, weakness, confusion, fatigue, muscle incoordination. If these effects persist for more than a few days, contact your doctor.
4. Difficulty urinating, constipation, blurred vision, fast heartbeat, palpitations, excitement, talkativeness, restlessness, anxiety, sleeping problems, trembling, muscle spasms. Stop taking the drug and contact your doctor.
Other Precautions :
1. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should inform their doctors.
2. If you become pregnant while taking this drug, notify your doctor promptly. Abstract
A direct and simple first derivative spectrophotometric method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of clidinium bromide and chlordiazepoxide in pharmaceutical formulations. Acetonitrile was used as solvent for extracting the drugs from the formulations and subsequently the samples were evaluated directly by derivative spectrophotometry. Simultaneous determination of the drugs can be carried out using the zero-crossing method for clidinium bromide at 220.8 nm and the graphical method for chlordiazepoxide at 283.6 nm. The calibration graphs were linear in the ranges from 0.983 to 21.62 mg/l of clidinium bromide and from 0.740 to 12.0 mg/l of chlordiazepoxide. The ingredients commonly found in commercial pharmaceutical formulations do not interfere. The proposed method was applied to the determination of these drugs in tablets.
